I worked the 7pm - 7am shift full time. The prison housed men, women, and juvenile inmates. I was assigned a different floor each night that consisted of 6 pods with approx. 40 clients in each pod for med pass. The med passes had to be completed within 2 hours. I provided emergency care and glucose testing. The nature of the environment required strict protocols. The only reason I left this job was to move back to Minden. I worked as an afterschool teacher and then a substitute teaching assistant and stand in nurse when needed. This was a part time job that I worked for fun. This was a French immersion school. I worked there off and on for the time I lived in New Orleans. I worked as an afterschool teacher and then a substitute teaching assistant and stand in nurse when needed. This was a rural health clinic. We saw both scheduled patients and emergency patients. I collected vitals and health information on patients as well as adminstering meds. I took x-rays and developed them for the doctors viewing. I performed venipuncture and other lab duties, such as placing specimen on slides for micro examination, urine testing, fecal blood testing, and glucose testing. I was also in charge of the Medicade KidMed program in our clinic. This required me to schedule and perform all kidmed exams as well as making sure each child in the program was up to date on vaccinations. I also worked closely with the state inspectors to make sure our records were maintained properly Show less
