Provided analysis, development and support for the MIPS project (Manatee Individuel Photo-Identification System). The goal of this project was to produce a system to take observational data and imagery of manatees from three separate agencies, both public and private, allowing all three agencies to share and analyze that data in real time. This system was to be constructed to provide an overall secure environment and protect each contributor’s data from being inadvertedly used by the other contributors while allowing all contributers analytic access to all data. Some accomplishments include:  Analysis, recommendations and implimentations of workflows and the applications used to facillate them. This includes the development of a Microsoft Access database and its associated Visual Basic code modules to aid in the capture of imagery metadata for approximately 100,000 film based images and related paper based observation notes which was then transacted into the MIPS database.  Analysis, recommendations and development of a system to distribute and analyze data. This was accomplished by reengineering the current Access database’s schema and then migrating its data to a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database which acts as a backend and allows data to be shared via merge replication with other SQL Servers. This system works across the internet traversing each agencies unique firewall/security policies and internal infrastructure.  Support of the current MIPS/Access application. Assisted in the development and testing of digital video surveillance systems for law enforcement. Created software to take NMEA formatted data from GPS receivers and parse it in real time so as to time stamp video streams with geographic data. This software incorporated thread technology, overlapping I/O, data streaming and proprietary hardware/firmware in a Visual Studio.NET environment. Assigned to Agilent Technologies, Inc. in Loveland, CO. Duties include the development of the next major software release and installation program for the TS-5400 industrial automotive test system. Also responsible for R & D support for the SGDU marketing department and code level driver and application support for the TS-5400. These tasks require strong electronic hardware skills in both analog and digital domains as well as a strong software foundation ranging from low level hardware I/O to COM object manipulation. Assigned to Hewlett Packard in Fort Collins, CO. Responsible for the testing, maintenance and repair of the Concord and Rockwood graphics drivers and adapters. This includes evaluating the functionality and performance of the various versions of the drivers on multiple hardware configurations to establish benchmarks for several industry requirements including Microsoft Windows (95/98/NT/2000) certification (WHQL), ViewPerf, GLPerf, Indy 3D, AutoCAD, etc. Duties also including porting UNIX source code of various graphics functionality tests to the NT platform, maintaining driver code to resolve issues as they arise, and developing new tests to exercise various aspects of the drivers OpenGL functionality. This client/server system uses Microsoft Windows NT Server, Windows 95, Access 97, Word 97 based electronic forms, and Visual Basic applications which serve as a parser/translator to facilitate data exchange between the County PCs and the State mainframe database. Microsoft Solutions Framework, a team centric, milestone driven, iterative process was taught to the client(s) and then used to design the project and manage its lifecycle. Assigned to GE Capital and UPS-IS of Maryland as a consultant. Participated in the development of an Internet product order system at GE Capital. Performed programming, testing, and debugging of Visual InterDev software. Worked in a team environment. The system utilized Microsoft NT Server, SQL Server 6.5, IIS, Active Server Pages, Visual Basic 5.0, and Visual InterDev. At UPS-IS, participated in all phases of systems development (feasibility study, requirement definition, system design coding, testing, implementation, and user training) for various system applications utilizing Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 3.x, C, Symantec C++, Visual C++ (Microsoft Foundation Classes) and Access. Provided full life cycle development of VerCheck: a software tool that would search and report on version information (size, creation dates, build flags, etc.) of DLL’s and executables. This allowed users to verify the compatibility of installed components with UPS On-Line Office software. Application was designed to run on any Windows platform and was developed using Symantec C++. VerCheck has been distributed to 78,000 desktops to date. Developed a variation of VerCheck called iniMake, which gathered the version information of all components that went into the distribution media for On-Line Office and generated an .ini file for VerCheck. This 32-bit application was used in the building of On-Line Office and was required for subsequent installations on end-user platforms. Provided high level trouble-shooting of Symantec C++ code. Responsible for the acquisition, programming, processing, editing, and rendering of 2D and 3D sound for the ABC Sports Presents line of computer simulations for Windows 95 including Monday Night Football, Collage Football, and other games. Designed and implemented sound rendering DLL’s to manage over 2,000 separate digital audio files using DirectSound and QSound for 3-dimensional, multi-channel, low latency sound playback. Tools used included Microsoft Visual C++ with Microsoft Foundation Classes (MFC) and C. Implemented look-up based natural language system capable of constructing sentences using contextual state information from the game in order to produce real time commentary. Utilized Cakewalk and Sound Forge to perform pre- and post-production of MIDI and WAV files. Developed test utilities to prepare and test data for the sound engine. Designed and developed a database to maintain up-to-date catalogs of sound files using Microsoft Access.
