Elliot Hasdan, CFA

I free-lanced for Jake's company to help define a strategy for financing solar panel implementation and to understand the role of grants and other incentives for the projects. As a team leader and project coordinator, Jake demonstrated remarkable leadership skills. He explained his technical vision to the team clearly and succinctly, setting down a well-defined plan of action. Jake has an amazing command of the technological aspects of the industry, but his greatest asset is the ability to communicate his ideas and build a successful team. He has the positive energy to lead discussion with an upbeat attitude that energizes others. Jake makes tough calls and has the talent to execute his ideas. He is a leader with passion--he cares deeply about his work and he believes in what he is doing. Jake demonstrates unmatched candor and integrity. Beyond his technical strengths, he is an effective leader. He knows that success is about growing others, about making his team smarter, bigger and bolder. It was a great learning experience to work with him.

Visionary, implementor. Doer of stuff; filler of void. BioZaq Poly manufactures water soluble plastics. Plastics bags and stuff... that can dissolve in water (dissolve. in. water.). Helped form this novel company from conception, and helping it scale rapidly to become America's bone fide hub for all related industries that employ such materials. This is being done together with some of the world's leading seasoned experts. Group of super awesome people, doing super awesome stuff. Show less

Worked with several R&D efforts and wrote elaborate technical documents. I worked with another inventor on a prototype vehicle that sported a new type of propulsion system. Testing of the first-phase prototype proved the technology successful. Also worked with some renewable energy generation efforts. 'Green initiatives': -renewable energy: solar/wind, upward of 2.5 MW systems (brokering, consulting, competitive-grant-writing) -transportation: software dvlp, velomobile prototyping/potential manufacturing, autonomous/standard system design/redesign) -water: desal, filtration technologies, sustainability work Show less

Designed, built, and tested a novel carbon fiber structure for a cubesat picosatellite. R&D of materials and production processes, including carbon fiber/Kevlar curing methods, epoxy-aluminum bonding methods, and shape memory alloy (SMA) properties used for deployment mechanisms. I used 3D CAD programs to design press molds and structural parts, and personally manufactured the carbon fiber solar panels for the modular picosatellite bus. Performed structural and space-rating analysis, and documented all activities. Goal was to reduce mass and increase strength... crushed both goals. SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS: Personal efforts allowed for optional deployable solar panels for clients. Our various sub-teams presented our work to the cubesat community, receiving great interest and accolades. The NASA cubesat team was impressed, and flew out several teammates to collaborate.
