Designing bespoke environmental rooms/chambers and producing 3D CAD models & 2D mechanical drawings for a world leading company. Responsibilities include the implementation and development of Autodesk Inventor, streamlining the process and standardising existing methods, with the aim to reduce overall design & production time and costs. Designed and modelled a chamber for a government nuclear project. Customizing the design for a highly specific application while complying with strict safety restrictions and ergonomics. Producing documentation of the detailed design to a defence industry standard. Duties also cover the manufacturing process and the overseeing of projects from design through to completion on site. Visited many sites to commission a product alongside the installation department to get the chamber running to its optimum performance. Apprenticeship based on the shop floor, manufacturing in each department including sheet metal, welding & fabrication, fitting, refrigeration fitting, electrical & testing. Introduced new design and manufacturing techniques that save time and cost on the project while at the same time increasing the performance or function of the product. Created & managed of mechanical design department drawing libraries and document control. Tasked with maintaining the efficiency and functionality of the CAD libraries using Vault within the department and ensuring all parts are correct to manufacturing standards. Building bespoke equipment without some concept designs, errors can occur within the manufacturing phase, working with manufacturing engineers or technicians who have highlighted issues, thinking quickly and efficiently solving the error to avoid any delay to a schedule. Often required to visit a client’s site or facility to discuss design concepts and survey the proposed area the equipment is to be installed, during this visit the design can be clearly explained and allow any concerns that ether side may have be resolved. Operated a variety of Automated sheet metal machines and kept control of quality of components produced by the machines. Worked within the design office for a short period learning ways of sheet metal design with various software applications and production methods using large CNC machines. Using Autodesk Inventor to design sheet metal components for mass production using multiple CNC machines and manufacturing processes. Transferring sheet metal flat profiles to Radan configuring manufacturing techniques and programmes for CNC machines. Instructing large scale production machinery to strict production times with high accuracy avoiding discrepancies leading to downtime. Show less
