I started in coastguard because I wanted to give back to my community and found that coastguard suited my skillset. I have learnt a great deal in this time about search and rescue along with planning and risk assessment. The unit provides a vital role within the community for both saving lives and education. My role within the unit is as an operational on water volunteer and in the incident and operational management teams for the unit as well as training other members of the unit to assist with the training matrix we have. In my current role at ATL group in wellington I have a wide and varied role. I look after the day to day regulatory advisement, compliance and management of the safety management system with regards to training, inductions, process implementation, contractor prequalification and compliance at the Wellington Branch. I undertake accident and incident investigation compliance auditing and site inspections, Competency assessments and training . As part of the operational side of my role I provide project support, run minor projects, and undertake quality assurance monitoring of projects. I look after the day to day contractor management for the building and planned maintenance and remedial works needing to be carried out in the exhibition. I also look after the IQP documents for our tenancy. I have setup all the facilities contracts prior to opening and managed the installation of the security and IT infrastructure. I am responsible for the day to day management of our cloud based IT platform and networking infrastructure. A big part of my role is also managing the security both electronic and physical. I also took on the project managing the final stages of construction to the site and manage any ongoing works. General duties in my role included installing, servicing, upgrading, repairing manual and automatic doors, as well as liaising with clients and tenants. I was responsible for checking other technicians work for quality, and I would lead all the complex installation work.
