      Development and manufacturing of thermal stratifier for hot water tanks • To find the best way to produce a stratification device for hot water tanks using analysis tools such as rating matrix and SWOT-analysis, and testing the suggested solutions • Tested a way to use a laser-cutter to weld two pieces of clear plastic together without an absorption liquid between them. • Assessment of which solution was best in terms of economy and production speed • To find a way to isolate a layer unit based on the buoyancy of many different materials and their ability of insulation. Finally, the durability in hot water was tested • To build a test rig and test the different designs of a stratifier device to hot water tanks • Made calculations on water velocity and turbulence in the various designs Results: Found a method of laser welding clear plastic together. The three best items were sent to strength-tests at an external company in Germany. The test showed that laser welding was 21% better than normal pressure /heat welding. Show less
