Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, United States From 2 hour long boat tours, to haunted house type boat rides, to charters and cruises, the Dells Boat Tours is the longest running attraction in Wisconsin Dells. I started out in the company as a tour guide - involving giving tours up to two and a half hours to groups of around 120 people at a time. As a captain now, I navigate our 50 ton tour boats along the Dells of the Wisconsin river while helping to entertain the passengers. As a captain now, I navigate our 50 ton tour boats along the Dells of the Wisconsin river while helping to entertain the passengers. I learned a lot about responsibility and keeping things serious in times where they need to be: navigating a 60 foot long, 12 foot wide boat through a canyon that is 13 feet wide is one of these examples. Although there are plenty of times for fun a games, some situations require you to take things professionally and thoughtfully. Show less

Baraboo, Wisconsin, United States Growing up performing, you find yourself developing communication and public speaking skills you wouldn't have otherwise. From crowds of four people to my largest of 6,700 people, entertaining an audience and keeping them laughing was always a highlight of my life. In a way magic is a form of engineering. When I made a car appear once, I had to engineer my own design in a way so complex as to being flawless and undetectable, yet being so simple that it can happen in seconds. After awhile I… Show more Growing up performing, you find yourself developing communication and public speaking skills you wouldn't have otherwise. After awhile I started designing my own tricks while at the same time practicing the art of engineering! Show less

Roseau, Minnesota, United States As a systems engineer on Polaris's Sportsman line of ATVs, I worked to design and develop brake systems for upcoming model year vehicles. I became proficient in Dynamic Balanced Brake theory to calculate brake lock-ups for necessary sizing while taking that knowledge and applying it to the real word design restraints limited by domestic and international regulations. I became proficient in Dynamic Balanced Brake theory to calculate brake lock-ups for necessary sizing while taking that knowledge and applying it to the real word design restraints limited by domestic and international regulations. Benchmark testing involving instrumenting all aspects of various systems, dynamometer testing to approximate component life and thermal capabilities, as well as brake system capabilities as it pertains to consumer recommendations were all regular projects that I worked from start to completion on during my internship. Trying to be as customer-focused as possible, I also enjoyed riding Polaris machines to get a better idea of how to make the best possible experience for the consumer. Show less

Verona, Wisconsin, United States Being my first step into doing real engineering work, Extreme Engineering Solutions gave me more than great experience. Baraboo, Wisconsin, United States Being the first job I ever had, giving tours for Baraboo tours was an interesting introduction to the work force. I started out as a magician for one of the tours based at Circus World Museum, and from the I worked to guide different tours and make my way up the company. To this day I still work for Baraboo Tours and I really think it shows my level of commitment to a job once I start it - for me, there's no going back.

Baraboo, Wisconsin, United States Although my official job title was "Toy Store Hero", associate and assistant manager works pretty well too. This job had you doing everything from gift wrapping to checking people out to restocking, cleaning, selling, and shipping, there was no dull moment. I was in charge of sales on the floor however, a place that I loved to be. At the time of the holidays, one can find me bouncing off the walls and weaving between customers to get them the best possible gift or toy for their needs. I was in charge of sales on the floor however, a place that I loved to be. At the time of the holidays, one can find me bouncing off the walls and weaving between customers to get them the best possible gift or toy for their needs. Most of the times you could find me playing games with the customers too, an easy way to sell someone something I discovered. I also worked to develop the ecommerce site during the pandemic, something that took me well over 200 hours. My biggest takeaway from this job is how to juggle many things at once and how to keep people happy in the mean time. Show less
