As the project coordinator I am responsible for leading a crew in conducting field work assessing Indiana bat maternity colonies in forest management areas. As a volunteer I assisted staff in providing care to each individual ferret. My responsibilities included monitoring the health of each animal and reporting any concerns as well as feeding and cleaning up the enclosures and taking care of the live prey. Awarded a scholarship as part of the Pulliam Scholarship Program and Colorado State University. This program included course work in designing environmental education programs for youth, as well as allowed me the opportunity to independently teach environmental education to 4th grade students. This included creating and interpreting lesson plans catered towards children ages 7-10 for academic use and executing lessons covering ecological concepts. Additionally, as part of this program I was responsible for mentoring a high school student in developing and conducting novel research related to natural resources.
