Although I did not have much experience with face-to-face solicitation, I thrived in the position, raising over $118,000 in my first five months from donors whose previous years’ giving totaled $6,489.   Human Rights First is an action and advocacy organization whose mission is to challenge the United States to live up to its ideals by pressing the U.S. government and private companies to respect human rights and the rule of law. During my tenure, I was the point-person for a six-person major gifts team. I used Moves Management research tools like ResearchPoint and Foundation Directory Online, and Raiser’s Edge database to ensure our goal of raising $3 million in major gifts was met. I was in charge of prospecting, research, strategy, and I drafted communications for senior leadership. I also managed large-scale ad hoc projects such as stewardship mailings, the Target Analytics Fundraising Essentials screen, and events, and I managed between one and three interns per trimester. During a four-month period of transition at the organization, I was solely responsible for maintaining the major and annual giving programs. I solicited major donors and served as the project manager for the year-end campaign, managing the timeline, designing and writing appeal letters and e-communications, and working collaboratively with the communications team and mail house. The organization successfully met its annual goal of $4M in individual funds raised that year.

  I was responsible for all of the stewardship and donor relations efforts at NYIT, a global university with campuses in New York, Canada, China, and the United Arab Emirates. I oversaw all development communication, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship correspondences. I was instrumental in growing the scholarship program, increasing the amount of awards by 293%. I planned and executed nine inaugural special events, such as scholarship dinners and luncheons, and worked closely and collaboratively with the Offices of Financial Aid, Finance, and Communications and Marketing to develop a cohesive development plan.

  I was responsible for managing all operational aspects of major gift and individual giving development, including executing gift acknowledgements, cultivating annual donors, organizing cultivation and stewardship events, managing the annual major giving society, and fielding inquires. I was responsible for maintaining strategic relationships with Board Members and other major donors and I provided administrative support to the President and CEO.   I worked with team captains and individuals for Walk MS and Bike MS fundraising events to support their registration, recruitment, and fundraising efforts, increasing individual and team fundraising for Walk by 11.6% and 13%, respectively, for a total of $19,000. I worked to secure corporate partnership opportunities for mass market events and participated in planning third party and mass market events with attendance from 20-6,000. I was responsible for the Long Island recruitment, fundraising, registration, and logistical planning efforts for the annual regional Challenge Walk in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and the Bike MS: Traffic Free Ride in Bethpage, New York. I also designed promotional and marketing materials including the MS Connection, the quarterly newsletter; postcards; fliers; invitations; and sponsorship journals using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.
