With combined efforts of the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), Diana Elliott, Provincial Aboriginal Infant Development Program Advisor/Manager, and the host agency, BC Aboriginal Association of Friendship Centres, my position as the Provincial Advisor for Aboriginal Supported Child Development Programs of BC began September 4th, 2018. There are approximately 50 different ASCD Programs in BC. Of these ASCD programs 40 are hosted within an Aboriginal Agency while 10 other ASCD programs are co-located with mainstream SCD programs in non-Aboriginal sites. (ASCD/SCD Provincial Data Report – July 2017). I am looking forward to meeting, supporting and working with Aboriginal Supported Child Development Consultants, Regional Advisors and communities within British Columbia.
