      I undertook my university placement at the Peninsula Medical School, Plymouth where I assisted in Neuroscience research. I used electron microscopy to observe the different effects on the brain when mutant tau protein is induced in the mature CNS of mice, specifically studying the myelin pathology. I also used live imaging techniques to observe the effect of ischemic injury on different brain regions. I used the multiple sclerosis cuprizone model to test the neuroprotective effect of glutamate receptor blocker drugs on demyelination. Show less
