Whilst at BBH I researched UX and product offerings for British Airways, which uncovered a huge gap in the market with the potential to save vast sums of money. I also gathered insights around the niche interests and popular culture of a particular demographic for a new business pitch. The insights were used as the backbone to help structure the proposal and creative response. My role was to support the team with any creative tasks such as; building decks, mock-up ads for pitches and audits. Towards the end of my term at Google I specialised in YouTube strategy and would advise the members of my pod and wider team accordingly. I also worked directly with clients using Google systems to identify their online audiences and use best practices to improve brand and content delivery. I worked as a waiter for the The Boat Inn and also took on responsibilities such as taking orders, table service, cleaning and shutting down the kitchen after eating hours had finished. This helped me develop my communication skills and understand the importance of punctuality. I left this position by mutual consent to concentrate on my studies. In my last year of school I co-founded a clothing brand called Alpha Apparel, we bought t-shirts in bulk and then added our logo and also tie-dyed many of them, we also sold jumpers and other clothing products. We used the current summer fashion trend at the time and styled and marketed our products for that. We were very successful and sold over 500 products in less than 6 months of business. This was a fairly short term business venture but helped me learn a lot about what it takes to run a business and the responsibility involved in this and it also gave me a strong practical knowledge of buying and selling. The logo we created is an ambigram (it can be read the same the right way up or upside down), which, created a lot of interest and I came up with the concept of taking a photo of one of our sponsored BMX riders doing a back flip showing the logo upside down and still displaying the name correctly. We used this photo to promote our page and it got a large amount of responses.
