I had Jack as both a student and an advisee while he attended the University of Pittsburgh. Through his group work, sustainability projects, and art Jack demonstrated his passion for environmental work, detail oriented nature, and creativity. Jack always strives for the best, and will make a great addition to any team he is on as he is an enthusiastic and hardworking individual. Can't forget to mention Jack's awesome personality!!!

I had the pleasure of meeting Jack in 2018 through a class that I teach at the University of Pittsburgh, called Sustainability, which is an experiential class designed to give students the opportunity to affect system changes on campus and in the Pittsburgh community. Jack and three others worked to improve living conditions in a nearby off-campus housing neighborhood (Central Oakland) by facilitating better relationships among community organizations, relevant university staff and student organizations, and Pitt students living there. This project was really about establishing solid groundwork for a long-term effort to clean up an urban neighborhood that has long been neglected by the university. I have worked with many students over the years who have conducted cleanup events and other outreach to Pitt students in Central Oakland, and although they were all well-intentioned efforts, none of them struck to the core of the problem: the transient nature of students living there. Jack’s group strategized longer-term relationships among key stakeholders, gathered baseline data for improving communication, reached over 1,000 people through surveys and outreach, and established a student organization, which I’m proud to say is still thriving, growing its membership, and strengthening key relationships. In class, Jack was an outstanding student who always completed his work thoroughly, thoughtfully, and on time. In all of his interactions with me, his peers, and project stakeholders, he demonstrated respect and showed himself to be an excellent listener, communicator, and team builder. Perhaps most notably, Jack has an enthusiastic optimism that is contagious. He was always personable, professional and courteous, and his ability to get along with people and build positive relationships will make him and outstanding member of any organization.
