The Department of Kinesiology's KPAP is a university wide educational program offering a variety of physical activity experiences. Students, staff and faculty from all across the university can enroll in any of these classes to enrich their lives and enhance their own physical activity. The KPAP allows participants to explore human movement and its impact on health, society and lifelong physical activity. The KPAP relies on a team of 35 dedicated physical activity professionals who work together to promote physical literacy; teach skills and knowledge; all the while maintaining safe practices and having fun. As a doctoral candidate and university facilitator/teaching assistant, I worked for the College of Education, Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program. I was the teaching assistant for EDC 370 Teaching Methods for Secondary Physical Education and university facilitator for physical education student teachers from 2013-2014, under the direction of Dr. Dolly Lambdin. I was a graduate researcher in the Kinetic Kidz Lab under the direction of Dr. Darla Castelli. My research interests include the understanding and practice of physical education teacher education, both nationally and internationally, the influence of refugee resettlement on physical education, and physical education connecting with families, communities, and faith-based institutions.
