Jack joined ONCS in September 2016 and immediately became an integral part of my team. He is a very thoughtful and careful scientist, with exceptional technical skills and strong troubleshooting abilities. He took the lead in designing and running cell-based assays, ELISAs, IBs and FACS, training junior scientists and managing the lab. He was always keen to learn new things and quickly became adept at various molecular biology techniques. Jack's tenure at Oncosec was brief, though not through any fault of his own nor by my choice (he was caught in a structural reorganization). All of his work on my team was exceptional and he was very well-liked and respected by his colleagues. I highly recommend Jack for employment. He is a very strong candidate and an asset to any team. Lead personnel of laboratory’s expertise in shear-dependent cellular trafficking, transendothelial migration (TEM) and other in vitro shear-based assays. I also managed the overall, day-to-day laboratory operations and fostered communications within the laboratory group but also with outside collaborators. • Pioneered adaptations to the Transendothelial Migration Chamber (TEMC) to accommodate rapid modulations of chemokine gradients across endothelial monolayers, mimicking the physiological environment. • Led a study to elucidate T-cell TEM and retrograde TEM in response to rapid changes in chemokine gradients. • Oversaw a collaborative project in revealing CD4 T-cell trafficking and accumulation in response to soluble HIV-1 gp120. • Designed and spearheaded experiments to observe granulocyte adhesion deficiencies in CDG2c/LAD2 patients. • Supported other projects studying trafficking of lymphoma cells, modified mesenchymal stem cells and hematopoietic progenitor cells. • Supervised the fusion, screening and maintenance of hybridoma cell lines, producing monoclonal antibodies specific to a glycoform of CD44, Hematopoietic Cell E-/L-selectin Ligand (HCELL). • Developed protocols for purifying monoclonal antibodies from hybridoma cell culture supernatants. • Contributed to the studies of ex vivo glycosylation of cell surface proteins to enhance trafficking of mesenchymal stem cells. • Communicated with international laboratories to negotiate custom production and shipment of reagents needed for studies. • Presented results, conclusions and discovery at weekly group meetings, and often at department meetings. • Managed the use and maintenance of laboratory’s flow cytometer (FC500MPL), cell culture facilities, and equipment for shear-based assays. • Responsible for writing, submitting, and updating laboratory’s IACUC animal protocols and IRB protocols. • Occasionally presided over group meetings, communicating timelines, progress updates and milestones.
