Daley Corporation is one of the largest road builders in Southern California. Faced with the loss of its bonding, Mr. Kirby placed the company in Chapter 11, secured his own California State Contractors License, and led the company in completing its contracts. Among the contracts was the change over of NAS Miramar (the home of “Top Gun”) to Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar (MCASM). The projected involved a massive reconfiguration of fighter jet and helicopter staging areas and taxiways. The restructuring under Chapter 11 enabled the creation of a new company named Daley Construction. Daley operates profitably today, serving San Diego and Southern California as a non-union company. Cabrillo Crane And Rigging was a heavy lift crane company. Mr. Kirby served as President and CEO, managing its reorganization. Under his management, the fleet was streamlined and enlarged. This enabled a dramatic boost in revenues and profitability. A national company, Anthony Crane purchased the Crane Division and a private investor purchased the Hoist Division. A highlight of these efforts was the award of the contract to provide heavy cranes and hoists used to film the Academy Award-winning film Titanic. Show less

Everex Computer Systems was a publicly traded $600 million computer manufacturer. Due to a loss of funding instituted by CIT, the company petitioned for Chapter 11. Mr. Kirby served as CFO and Board Member. During that period, key contracts were maintained or sold and divisions and subsidiaries in Europe and the US were divested while maintaining US production. After selling the government division to GTSI, a public company, Everex was sold to Formosa Plastics Group and operates profitably today in Fremont, CA. Show less

Pioneer Refining is a waste oil refinery located in Singapore. The facility utilizes a German technology to process waste oil into high-grade lubricants, light ends and ships’ bunkers. Mr. Kirby served as President during the restart and initial operations. Further, marketing and sales plans were implemented for products sold in Southeast Asia. Mr. Kirby operated the plant while under receivership imposed by Hong Kong Shanghai Bank Corporation (HSBC). Pioneer was sold as a going concern and the secured creditors were paid in full. Show less

Upright, USA is a $500 million public multinational manufacturer of aerial work platforms and access equipment. Mr. Kirby led this company as President. During that period, new products were introduced and key positions were staffed; a new European manufacturing plant covering 250,000 square feet was conceptualized, designed and built; and certain US production was integrated. In the US operation, an attempt to organize the plant by the USWA was defeated and a new technical training facility was introduced. The training courses and center were featured on the MacNeil/Lehrer report, a national news program that highlighted the success of Upright in the training of skilled workers. Show less
