Faced with the loss of its bonding, Mr. Kirby placed the company in Chapter 11, secured his own California State Contractors License, and led the company in completing its contracts. Among the contracts was the change over of NAS Miramar (the home of “Top Gun”) to Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar (MCASM). The projected involved a massive reconfiguration of fighter jet and helicopter staging areas and taxiways. The restructuring under Chapter 11 enabled the creation of a new company named Daley Construction. Daley operates profitably today, serving San Diego and Southern California as a non-union company.
