Justice Forward Virginia is a non-partisan political action committee focused exclusively on advancing criminal justice reform priorities. As Managing Director, I came on board to help assist JFV with their legislative advocacy, media presence, and fundraising. In this role, I organized and executed a successful 100-person advocacy day of action in Richmond on January 17th, kept track of nearly 150 pieces of legislation in the Virginia General Assembly, revamped the organization's website, led a rebranding of social media, and implemented fundraising tools that doubled their capacity to raise money. • Campaign Manager
      • Nov 2018 - Nov 2019

I managed the campaign for Steve Descano, progressive reformer and candidate for Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney. As the first staff hire for the campaign, I helped develop messaging and talking points to communicate complex criminal justice issues to diverse audiences. I represented the campaign in progressive coalition meetings focused on achieving common goals of voter outreach and engagement. In the June 11th Democratic Primary, our campaign unseated a 12-year incumbent in the first primary since 1963. In the November 5th General Election, we won 61.23% of the vote, defeating a former Trump political appointee. My duties included managing our communications and finance staff, working with consultants on mail and digital strategies, maintaining the candidate's schedule, managing political relationships, working with other campaigns and a coalition of progressive partners, and executing the campaign plan. I ran the field operation for a Montgomery County Council candidate, running to represent District 3. My job included organizing volunteers, establishing and maintaining a robust internship program, planning events, and executing the campaign plan. Under my supervision, the campaign surpassed its goal to knock on 50,000 doors, resulting in over 13,000 conversations and 9,500 votes on Primary Day. I managed a team of 2-4 interns and over 30 volunteers at any one time. About the campaign: Ben Shnider is a progressive Democrat running to represent District 3 on the Montgomery County Council. Ben's vision for Montgomery County is one of more accessible transit options for commuters, increasing affordable housing opportunities for low income and working class residents, protecting the environment, and making the County a more welcoming place to live, work and play. Ben has been endorsed by SEIU Local 500, 32BJ SEIU, Unite Here! Local 23, LiUNA Baltimore/Washington District Council, the Sierra Club, CASA in Action, Run For Something, and Delegates Andrew Platt and Shane Robinson. Show less
