As an advanced administrator of Atlassian (Jira and Confluence) applications and plugin developer, I’ve provided numerous solutions to requests ranging from simple to highly complex and delivered guidance to our very large (10k+) user base. In addition to fundamental administration responsibilities, such as custom project-based scheme implementations (fields, issue types, workflows, screens, permissions, notifications, priorities), other aspects include JQL and Groovy scripting, automation rules, plugin evaluation and implementation, and integrating with external applications, such as Aha!, Slack, Salesforce and Rev-Trac. While many user requests and requirements can be achieved with native Jira and Confluence functionality, others are better served with feature rich addons for scripting, automation, reporting, and structure hierarchy, such as those provided by ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, and Structure.Training users and mentoring new administrators has been an incredibly rewarding aspect of this position. Sharing knowledge with colleagues has strengthened our ability to expedite solutions and continually improve customer usability and satisfaction.Utilizing my software engineering background, I developed utilities and methodologies to migrate data and attachments from several different issue tracking applications over to Jira, in one case saving the company over $130k per year. I also provided the ability to self-manage custom field options to project administrators, by adding a Fields project panel (UI) to an internally developed Jira plugin, resulting in a 10% reduction in Jira support requests and a greatly improved customer experience. After acquiring Revit Technology Corporation and adopting their internally developed bug tracking and reporting applications (SRD – Software Report Database and QM – Quality Metrics), I then implemented all required enhancements to both of these web-based applications using ASP, Ajax, JavaScript, VBScript, HTML, XML, SQL. To promote knowledge sharing, I also authored an “SRD Internals” white paper.We later switched from the in-house applications to the commercially supported and well-known Jira issue tracking program. To accomplish the transition, I developed a C# utility to migrate SRD data (including attachments) over to Jira, saving over $75k/yr in development and maintenance costs. Show less
