Having spent my gap year on a farm, I was invited to return back to the same farm after my first year of study at Plymouth University to help with the harvest. Having built up strong relationships with the other farm employees I was given the responsibility of organising the main farmyard's lorry schedules and having completed my forklift licence on my gap year, was put in charge of loading and unloading all lorries and tractors in order to keep the harvest operation flowing smoothly. During my gap year I took the decision to undertake a full years work experience. I worked as part of a farm team who supplied potatoes, onions and other crops to the company 'Three Musketeers', who supply vegetables across the UK. My roles were very varied, from driving tractors and organising lorry schedules to working with cows and building new barns. In order to gain more work experience, I returned to Claydon Yield-O-Meter for a six week period to learn more about how the machines went from CAD design to manufacture and was given more responsibilities to teach others how to undertake certain tasks.
