I work in a litigation firm focusing on the insurance sector. I am responsible for notifying claims or circumstances when they come in, acknowledging the client and uploading them to our internal database. When claims progress, I am responsible for drafting Letter's of Response, Letter's of Declinature and filing documents on the courts online filing system. I helped summarise the effect of a Venture Capital trust deed and its effect on the involved parties. Working within the M&A team I marked up and amended a heads of terms for an acquisition and wrote up a corporate profile for two companies involving an analysis of Companies House. I also amended a settlement agreement for the employment department as well as writing a legal note on foreign jurisdiction and whether a USA judgment could be enforced in England. I created an information sheet on the 'Big Three' record labels and their sub-labels and helped with archiving documents. I amended a legal note on the process of obtaining a divorce following a recent change in the law. I drafted a legal note on the law surrounding pre and post-nuptial agreements and a fact-sheet on the criteria for bringing a phone hacking claim including the steps, key parties and remedies. I undertook a number of roles helping the Housing Development team. I wrote and amended reports on housing leases involving cross analysis of leasehold reports, agreements and contracts. I also drafted completion statements that helped summarise key parts of the transaction. This included calculating fees such as VAT, legal and retention. I regularly filled out SDLT forms, Unilateral notices and AP1’s. The AP1s specifically tested my skills of analysis and critical information selecting.
