MLS Generalist whose duties were to analyze samples of blood, tissue and body fluids using advanced technology and a wide array of analytical techniques in the Chemistry, Hematology and Microbiology areas of the Pathology Department. Meeting established turnaround times, troubleshooting discrepant results, precise attention to detail, and collaboration among the whole healthcare team were all at the forefront of responsibilities when trying to provide the best patient-centered care to the children and families of our facility.

Specialized branch of laboratory medicine which involves the study of blood group antigens and antibodies. It involves the study of the principles, procedures, clinical significance and practice of a wide variety of procedures including: donor selection, component preparation and use, and techniques used to detect antigen/antibody reactions which may adversely affect a patient receiving a transfusion or organ transplantation. Other tasks include: identification of antigens and antibodies of the ABO, Rh, and other blood group systems, pretransfusion testing procedures, hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn, neonatal and obstetrical transfusion practice, autoimmune hemolytic anemias, and adverse affects of transfusion and organ transplantation.
