      Chemical education: After retiring from industrial research I taught 200 semester hours chemistry at Rock Valley College from summer 2003 to the present, Fall 2013. I taught General chemistry (CHM 101, 102, or 120) 23 times, Indroductory chemistry (CHM 099, 100, or 105) 12 times, Introductory Organic (CHM 215 or 216) 7 times, and General-Organic-Biochemistry CHM 110 or 210) 8 times. Summer 06 to Spring 07 I taught a full load; other terms I generally taught 2 classes during the school year and one class during the summers.Chemical research, Dow Chemical. About 21 years in Polyurethane chemicals, 19 years on the polyisocyanate side, two with the polyol side. About 2 years on polycarbonates and epoxy chemicals. About 2/3 of these years was in process research. Patents: 12 US issued and 15 foreign equivalents were allowed. I wrote 33 formal research reports and received 4 awards for research contributing Profit-before-Tax of more that $1MM/yr. Also co-wrote two chapters in Dow's book, Polyurethane Foams and gave an ACS paper on determining isocyanurate content in polyisocyanates using a quantitative infrared method. Status at retirement from Dow: Research Specialist.As Contract Chemist: Several short term projects over 5 years: Identifying the byproducts in Bayer's Toluene Diisocyanate plant in Baytown, TX, 6 months. Non-routine analyses and byproduct identification in Solutia's Sorbic Acid and Alimet(R) (Methionine precursor) plants over 3.5 years.
