I worked at the University of California at Berkeley with Professor Tsit-Yuen Lam, a truly remarkable man in many ways. My admiration and respect for Professor Lam knows no bounds. It was very enjoyable to work at Berkeley. I also met my wife, Leslie, in Berkeley during this time. I worked at MSRI as a Postdoctoral Fellow in mathematical research. Wow! What an amazing time it was to be there. I met so many fascinating people including Professors Tsit-Yuen Lam, Irving Kaplansky, Hendrik Lenstra, and many others! While working at MSRI I also found very small canonical pro-p-quotients of absolute Galois groups, and worked with Michel Spira on connections with quadratic forms, valuations on fields, and some aspects of anabelian geometry. Last but not least, I made my biggest discovery: I met my wife, Leslie. I kidnapped her from beautiful California to beautiful Ontario, Canada -- a truly glorious place, but one which can be occasionally quite cool, especially in the wintertime. Life is sometimes beautiful! Show less
