Kent Law Clinic (KLC) provides a pro-bono advisory service to those who are ineligible for legal aid. In 2013, KLC has expanded its practie areas to include a Welfare Benefits team to provide advice for those who have had their employment support allowance applications rejected, in response to the Welfare Reform Act 2011. I was a volunteer advisor. My role included: - Organising and attending client meetings - Providing a formal letter of opinion (as my experience increased) - Possibility of representing clients in court once I have gained enough experience Sadly, the program was ended due to the supervising solicitor not having time to continue our training.
