  While a student at Vermont Law School, I participated in a Semester in Practice Program, and worked for six months at Saint Andrew’s Refugee Services, Refugee Legal Aid Project (RLAP). RLAP provides legal services to asylum seekers and refugees inside Egypt. In the position of intern/legal adviser, I assisted, with oversight form staff attorneys, in extensive client interviews, interview preparation, and representation in refugee status determinations, re-openings, appeals, and resettlement recommendations in front of the United Nations High Commission on Refugees, and Request for Reviews submitted to the United State Citizenship and Immigration Services. The clients that I worked with in this role were primarily for Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and RLAP employed refugees as interpreters to facilitate interviews and communication.
