Staffed to support general Festival happenings and ensure a quality experience for guest in addition to being selected to help with even Tear down. Festival Staff work included fest preparations such as tent set up, prep store merchandise, picking up & disposing of trash, providing guest information/help as needed, gathering electronics from the festival grounds, and on occasion assisting in spreading mulch or hay along the grounds. Tear Down work included working apart of a crew, collecting Festival equipment, packing and preparing for transport, operating heavy machinery as needed, and washing Festival equipment. Austin Civilian Conservation Corps Fuels Crew Member

Worked as a part of a 10-person crew tasked with reducing fuels throughout tracts of land such tracts along neighborhoods & nature preserves. Surrounding the City of Austin. Project work focused on fuel mitigation with the creation of fuel breaks and removing brush from sites. Used and maintained hand tools such as McLeods, Maddoxs and Pulaskis. Gas powered tools were regularly used and maintained such as chainsaws, brush trimmers and weed wackers. Chainsaw maintenance was done by regularly cleaning out saws, routine checks, cleaning filters and replacing or sharpening chains with round files. In addition, all CDC Guidelines for Covid-19 were followed such as wearing masks in closed spaces and within 6 feet of others. Working outdoors in rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions. Regularly lifting 50+ lbs and carrying gear throughout sites. Show less

Conservation & Disaster Crew Leader

Lead a 6-person crew that worked on environmental conservation projects in parks, green spaces and public lands mostly within and around the city of austin. Crew may be used as a resource for state and Federal Disasters. Coordinated with project partners and office staff on projects and tasks and gave guidance and trained members on the proper techniques and tool use. Kept record of project goals, reports, metrics and conducted Project Hazard Assessments and encouraged the use of Personal Protective Equipment as needed. In addition, all CDC Guidelines were followed and in place were needed such as wearing masks in closed spaces and following a pod system. Heavier emphasis on disaster response for federal disasters within the State of Texas. Returning members serve as an additional resource for both leaders and members, in lending additional experience in the field. Crew may hitch and camp onsite to work on more remote projects, live in a communal setting and cook dinners for the group. Project work ranged from trail construction & maintenance, invasive removal and fuel mitigation. Projects with this crew were focused more on disaster mitigation and cutting fuel breaks. Used and maintained hand tools such as McLeods, Maddoxs and Pulaskis. Maintenance was performed regularly with flat files to sharpen a tools edge. Used power tools such as drills, impact drills, circular saws and Miter saws. Gas powered tools were regularly used and maintained such as chainsaws, brush trimmers and weed wackers.
