Design and fabricate lab equipment and automated systems based on the needs of the botanic experiments performed by the professor. Including setup and program two Raspberry pi in Python and Bash so they can take photos at plants on a scheduled basis, reducing human labor. Meanwhile, being capable of automatically update the photos to Google drive and shutdown before power cut-off in the plant growth chamber, to prevent data loss and hardware damage. In addition to the Raspberry Pi, I have designed a mechanical metal bead dispenser in SolidWorks and built two copies of it using 3D printers and laser cutters. The goal of such device was to reduce human labor for the professor and her students and increase efficiency when performing experiments.
