  As a part of my Science degree I undertook a summer internship study unit (SCI3920) at Diagnostic Radiologists in Pakenham. I want to undertake radiography in future studies so this experience was very formative in developing my understanding of the industry. Although I have experience in customer service, working with patients posed a new challenge and I enjoyed developing empathy and professionalism as I worked in reception. I learned and used computer software that is used in diagnostic health services as I checked in patients, reviewed medical histories and observed medical images. I was also able to learn from radiologists, sonographers and the radiographer as they explained the responsibilities and challenges in their job roles. I also refined my knowledge of anatomical structures and learned about diagnosing illnesses based off medical images such as CTs, x-rays, and ultrasounds. Show less
