Ishita interned in our Group Insurance Underwriting unit for the past 10 weeks. She learned quickly and was unafraid to ask insightful questions when unsure of instructions. She took on new tasks and learned new skills while supporting our special projects. In addition, she aptly applied skills she already held, for example, analytics to determine when certain accounts might require specialized reporting. I wish Ishita success in her new school year and look forward to seeing where her growth, hard work, and passion will take her.

Let's retrospect about Ishita for a moment. Ishita started college in a STEM major, one of those "This is what everyone says to do" kinds of majors, and quickly realized the lack of a human element in her field. Her passion for development was for technology AND people. So, she pivoted, and followed her curiosity into the world of business and data science. We're all lucky she did. This hunger empowers Ishita to seek out new opportunities to expand her comfort zone, or to volunteer for additional duties, viewing them as learning experiences. So it was that I met Ishita when I was facilitating Prudential's Summer Intern Agile Experience wherein 4 Scrum teams would create a portfolio of 4 integrated products together. Ishita volunteered when I asked for 4 people to serve in the Scrum Master role for the rest of the summer. She wouldn't hide on Zoom or Teams calls; instead, she'd encourage the quiet ones to be seen and heard. Along the way, watching Ishita grow has entailed her overcoming some obstacles: - Making sure everyone was bringing their best selves to meetings and the product - Helping the team understand that they were all accountable for the product's success or failure - Synthesizing her own stance as a facilitator - Getting the team to be vulnerable with each other to create a more psychologically safe workplace - Helping her team learn a more Agile mindset and growing into a high-performing, self-organizing team If this recommendation doesn't make things clear enough as to why Ishita is a great data-loving human to have around, reach out to me and I'll be happy to explain it in depth.
