Clinical Partners is a outpatient service that offers a range of psychiatric assessments and talking therapy. As a member of the triage team, I am the first point of contact for new and existing patients. Over the phone, I use my knowledge of mental health difficulties to help patients navigate different treatment pathways, explore their clinical suitability and conduct risk assessments, including exclusion, with the upmost sensitivity and compassion. I provide ongoing care managing appointments, prescription requests and treatment queries which make use of my knowledge of psychometric and interview measures and liaise with professionals, patients, carers and insurers while adhering to confidentiality and safeguarding policies. For this, it is important to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, make use of clinical supervision, and record clinical issues that may include complaints, incidents, safeguarding and data breaches on a custom-built system. During college I volunteered with the Arch Clinic a therapy clinic outside of the New Forest. I worked on reception, shadowed and helped staff and assisted visitors in whatever I could do to create a calm, comfortable environment. This experience was invaluable; it provided insight into the array of therapies surrounding mental health as well as what it is like to be a therapist and have a career in the field. It crystallised for me a desire and motivation to work towards such career. During college I volunteered with the Arch Clinic a therapy clinic outside of the New Forest. While in secondary education and college I worked part-time at The Rose & Thistle Pub in the New Forest. The job demanded good communication skills both with colleagues and the public where teamwork is vital in such a high-pressured fast-moving kitchen environment to remaining patience and tact with customers. This employment enabled me to acquire interpersonal skills, work effectively as a team but also use my intuitive as a individual.
