Based in Montreal, Equitas is Canada’s most recognized and active human rights education (HRE) organization. I worked on bringing together youth from across Canada to share with decision makers and each other the amazing actions they took across the year through Equitas' Speaking Rights program to support the respect of human rights in their communities. This 80 hour consultancy was to develop the plan and tools for the next two years of development of an education program for youth on the Sustainable Development Goals and community engagement across the association. At the World Scout Bureau Global Support Centre, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I took on the role of Youth Programme Intern for 8 months. This role mixed project management in the field of education for the Sustainable Development Goals (ESDG) with strategic support to the Global Youth Programme Director's ongoing projects, as well as capacity building for regional and national offices. Successes: - Managed the content development of a guidelines and an activity toolkit on ESDG in Scouting with a team of 10 volunteers - Facilitated 4 workshops on ESDG for education specialists and managers - Developed two quality self-assessment tools on Youth Programme and Youth Involvement to be used by Regional and National officers for performance evaluation (in partnership with the department of organisational development) - Consolidated and analysed data to write a statistical report on global youth involvement in the organisation - Coordinated the organisation of a Film Festival with a selection of 20 films to mark the centennary of the Rover branch (17-25 year old programme) - Creating development proposals for improvement and review of ongoing educational programmes and events - Optimised an ecological performance accreditation process by developing new standard operating procedures - Tracked and kept ongoing communication with one of the organisation's main educational partners This role also included timely support with desk research, content creation and review, and logistical support to the Youth Programme Director, and on tasks related to WOSM Services' platform, E-learning platform, Diversity and Inclusion, and the development of the organisation's Theory of Change. The 12th World Social Forum was a 6 day event welcoming over 10,000 members of global civil society from more than 120 countries. My role was to provide continuous support to the event's general coordinator to ensure the success of this forum for dialogue and alliance building around global justice and alter-globalisation. The "Gardens in Bins" was a project that offered an introduction to urban agriculture to raise awareness among participating citizens of the Émard and Côte Saint Paul communities on what they can do to strengthen local food security. I took on the role of 'Gardening education officer' for the summer.
