Tijdens deze branche oriëntatie heb ik de mogelijkheid gekregen om mijn kennis te verbreden over het hotelwezen. Tijdens deze korte maar zeer leervolle stage heb ik binnen drie afdelingen mee mogen kijken en werken, namelijk Banqueting & Sales, Front Office en Housekeeping. Tijdens deze branche oriëntatie heb ik de mogelijkheid gekregen om mijn kennis te verbreden over het hotelwezen. From August 2019 until February 2020 I experienced one of the most valuable experiences of my life, which was an internship abroad. To be more precise this internship was in a 4-star hotel, Amba hotel Marble Arch in the middle of the centre of the British capital London. Amba hotel Marble Arch is part of a large hotel operator GLH hotels. During this internship I worked in all the F&B outlets of the hotel. I was able to closely observe how people are working and co-operating in a large organisation. The work in the hotel, which consists out of approximately 700 rooms, sometimes was a major challenge. During the internship I had the opportunity to work and gain experience in all the five F&B outlets of the hotel. By working within these different outlets, I was able to gain a broad range of experience because all outlets had its own areas of expertise. Furthermore the internship showed me the importance of teamwork, and the fact that all departments need to communicate very carefully with each other. Accordingly I have been stimulated to work hard and give the guests an unforgettable experience. In doing so I gained insight about how hostmanship should look like in practice. I am very thankful to the Amba hotel by giving me this opportunity, and subsequently for all the nice people I have met during the internship. The six months passed by very quickly. In my opinion it was a smooth process of growth, first of all on the personal aspect where I learned new things about myself which I didn’t know before. And secondly on the professional aspect where I think I developed significantly better skills in communicating in English. All in all I would sincerely like to thank the Amba hotel Marble Arch since they give me this opportunity and reserved their time in order to give me the chance to improve myself and learn as much as possible in the hotel, and subsequently successfully finish my internship.
