As a One Summer Lead my main responsibility was to ensure that summer school residents and conference guests’ needs are met via the Conference Assistants (CA) positions. Other responsibilities included: o Co-facilitate staff meetings with Summer Programs Coordinator, Residential Communities Staff Member(s), or Assistant Director o Provide guidance and supervision to our counselors and address any camper disciplinary/behavioral problems that the counselors are unable to handle o Participate and assist the Assistant Director(s) with staff training sessions at the start of the summer o Create fair and equitable weekly schedule balancing the needs for all CAs with the expected weeks activities o Coordinate CA duty scheduling process, including tracking duty shift changes, publishing a staff duty calendar, ensuring fairness, and inputting staff duty schedule into Outlook and providing schedule to Assistant Director(s) o Serve as the liaison between the CA’s and various Assistant Director(s) and professional staff o Work within various software platforms. o Provide oversight to the building preparation and main desk operations for One Summer Assistant staff o Coordinate check-in and check-out for summer institutes/camps; includes key distribution and collection o Serve in same rotation on call as Conference Assistants and have equitable amount of nights o Coordinate first night orientation for high school campers including discussing policies, a fire drill, activities for the week, and the weekly schedule. o Submit a written activity plan for evening and morning recreation, including indoor and outdoor activities, geared toward high school age children, to the Coordinator and Assistant Director of Summer Programs o Collaborate with professional staff in the Summer Programs or Residential Communities office. o Assist in gathering and communicate information from summer school and conference groups to all staff.
