-As a research assistant I lead morning and night patrols individually or with a small group to collect data from Lepidochelys olivacea (olive ridley sea turtle) and the endangered Chelonia mydas (Pacific green sea turtle). I have gained field skills such as triangulating the location of nests, relocations, and exhumations when necessary. I tag Pacific green sea turtles with NOAA metal tags; I collect biometric data of nesting females, predation, and poaching. I can identify sea turtle species based on the number of scutes, tracks on the sand, behavior, and size of the nest and eggs. In addition, I train incoming research assistants and volunteers; I communicate science in both English and Spanish to non-scientific audiences ranging from kids to adults; I translate written material from English to Spanish. -I designed and performed a research project named “Vegetation type and sand temperature influences nest-site selection of the Pacific green turtle (Chelonia mydas) in Playa Rio Oro in the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica”.

As a waitress for over four years, I have gained significant experience in a customer-facing role. I dealt with customers every day and ensure that they had a good experience by anticipating and addressing customers’ needs. I worked with my coworkers as a team and communicated effectively with my managers and customers. I was proactive, responsible, and applied positive suggestive sales approach to guide guests. As part of my job, I had to be patient, persistent, thorough, and adaptable. I had to take prompt action whenever necessary to maintain the satisfaction and safety of all.
