I worked on a 6 week project, that I am continuing to work on through this year. The project was to create an interactive learning tool using a retired SDSS plate. Using Plate 7591 I created a scale model of that part of the universe, setting the red shift to a linear scale and only plotting three different types of galaxies (Spiral, Elliptical and Quasars) Throughout the year I have helped at many science fares with the SHINE project and with plates for education. This Interactive learning tool is now being replicated in America, and there are other groups interested in creating a similar version of the interactive learning tool. Show less

In my 5th year of high school I was chosen to participate in a 6-month program called the “Engineering Education Scheme” (EES) During this time I worked to help Rolls Royce Aerospace to create a more efficient aerofoil fixture. Throughout this project I independently researched many different aspects of engineering to propose a universal fixture that wouldn't cause excessive stress or strain on the material while the aerofoil is being milled. All the relevant information was then formatted into a clear project report and demonstrated in a presentation at the end of the 6 months. Show less
