John P. Fitzpatrick
I have known Isabel for many years during our time working together at CMS Cameron McKenna. Isabel is a leader in her field (intellectual property) and she has always been a genuine pleasure to work with. I have the utmost respect and confidence in Isabel. She is honest and not afraid to say what she thinks. She gives clear, considered and practical counsel to the businesses she advises. As a business leader, she is highly intelligent, self-confident, and innovative. She is passionate about her work, dedicated, and pays attention to detail. She knows how to motivate and manage a team to reach its goals, and transformed the Technology Media and Telecommunications practice at CMS Cameron McKenna into an award winning team. She is truly a unique individual and a great asset to any business working with her.

Isabel Davies was the absolutely perfect manager of the IP and Technology Practice for most of the time I had been associated with CMS Cameron McKenna (2006/2009). Together with Ian Batty, the head of the CMS Cameron McKenna CEE Commercial Practice, she asked me to help her to coordinate the firm's IP practice in the CEE region, a role I appreciated very much. Together with Isabel and a group of colleagues from other CMS offices, I have actively participated in two INTA meetings, and multiple CMS IP and CMS Technology meetings. There are lawyers who are good in their field and others who are good business people - those skills rarely intertwine. Isabel is both a fantastic IP lawyer and a great manager and business developer. I had the opportunity to work with her and learn from her. An experience that helped me to become a better IP lawyer and develop personally as well. Isabel is very kind, sophisticated and charming. Every meeting with her was an event to look forward to and I envy people who have the opportunity to work with her on daily basis. At present, I am working for my own law firm in the centre of Prague, Czech Republic, with focus on IP, franchising, corporate law and real estate. Antonin Kazda

Chairman
-
Sep 2006 - Sep 2015
The IP Law Society's Intellectual Property Law Committee works closely with the profession, business, Government and Europe and represents the interests of IP solicitors. As its first female chair, my achievements have included: • Working with members of the IPLC to turn the body into an effective instrument of policy development and stakeholder management, adding able new members to give fresh perspective and capacity. • Lobbying Ministers, legislators (MPs, Lords), statutory bodies (including the Law Commission) and the Prime Minister’s trade representative and the Minister for IP on a range of commercial issues. • Co-ordinating the group’s activities with the Law Society’s representation to the European Union, jointly lobbying the EU Commission and MEPs on commercial legal issues. • Building partnerships with rival UK professional bodies to co-ordinate, rather than duplicate, our efforts, agreeing each would lead on a specialist area. • Managing the Law Society’s interaction with the UK Government’s Gowers’ and Hargreaves' Reviews of Intellectual Property, with proactive involvement in subsequent developments. • Providing a broad business perspective on a major European Commission review of trademarks.
