  I worked as an editorial intern for RioOnWatch. This website is one of Catalytic Communities' programmes that promotes grassroots journalism by documenting the views of favelas residents. By shedding light upon the issues that favela residents face, the work of RioOnWatch has helped to change the discourse about favelas away from misinformed, mainstream perspectives. This has encouraged more appropriate municipal decisions concerning the favelas to be made. My role as an editorial intern of RioOnWatch included: - The preparation of articles for publishing on WordPress. - The revision and editing of translated articles. - The translation of articles from Portuguese to English. - General editorial support. - Participation in organisation-sponsored community exchanges. - Reporting on events / writing articles for the website. I was given the responsibility to relay vital information efficiently, and to improvise in changing circumstances. Multiple challenges were successfully navigated, many being COVID related.
