As part of my university’s program in my second year I had to do an internship in financial accounting. I chose to have an international experience because I knew it would challenge me on many levels and that it would teach me things that maybe the safety of working in my country wouldn’t. During my internship in financial accounting at Signaux Girod in Bellefontaine I found that the language barrier was not as thick as I thought it would be and that it was actually a positive thing as it has helped me improve my French skills. I made a friend in my coordinator who encouraged me to observe different departments of the company and provide assistance where it was needed while also showing me how to work in the company’s accounting system.
