Volunteer Development & Coordination Officer
-
Jan 2011 - Nov 2012
The inaugural holder of this role, I was responsible for attracting volunteers to St Vincent de Paul Society and developing the volunteer program, for relationship marketing and training, and for setting up a range of systems, policies and procedures to enable the Society to efficiently manage the ongoing flow of people seeking community engagement through volunteering. I established a highly successful induction program that saw unprecedented numbers of volunteers participating. Another key initiative was a web registration form for the 2012 Vinnies Doorknock, which saw registrations increase by 30 per cent and contributed to record donations. Use of the Joomla! CMS was key to this – an open-source software, it enabled me to build the form at little to no cost for the Society. In readiness for the Vinnies Doorknock 2013 campaign, I further developed the system to directly forward registrations to each DK coordinator by using MS Outlook rules. I also developed the Volunteer News blog in Wordpress, with full social integration and RSS-email monthly e-newsletter to keep volunteers informed.

This was a wonderfully diverse and fulfilling engagement at Merici College. My work ranged from training students in Certificate II and III in Business Administration Services, assisting the College with communication by maintaining the website, developing archiving policies and procedures and coordinating the Merici College 50th Jubilee. Notable achievements include: * Setting up a database of over 600 stakeholders in four months * Managing the publication of a 28-page commemorative Jubilee book called 'Golden Moments' * Researching, writing and implementing the Merici College Archiving Policies and Procedures 2010-2013 document

Chief Executive Officer

Jul 2003 - Jun 2006
Bundanon was a mighty experience. I was the first locally appointed CEO to work with a dedicated team of local staff. It was a great privilege to chart the direction for Bundanon through the 2006-2010 business plan. Notable achievements include: * Increasing attendances by 46% * Introduced the UNESCO – Aschberg Bursaries residency program (and thus vastly increasing international residencies) * Establishing Weddings@Riversdale - major revenue raiser * Facilitated the Bundanon Trust, Sydney Theatre Company & Almeida Theatre, London partnership * Developed new computer & telephone systems * Implemented a revised staffing structure

Director
-
May 1989 - Jun 2003
As inaugural Director of Dubbo Regional Gallery (DRG), I built the facility from its genesis. After 14 years, it segued into the Western Plains Cultural Centre (which also incorporates the Dubbo Museum & Historical Society and a community centre). By the time of my departure in 2003, Dubbo City Council was in advanced stages of planning for WPCC. Other notable achievements include: * Establishing the 'animal in art' theme at DRG * 'Claimed' George Washington Lambert as an artist from the Dubbo region with a number of landmark exhibitions and events (sincere gratitude extended to Dr Anna Gray, now Senior Curator of Australian Art before 1920, at the National Gallery of Australia for her superb scholarship)

Curator/Education Officer
-
Jan 1987 - Apr 1989
I was the first full-time curator/education officer. The Gallery, specialising in collecting glass and Australian prints, was my first experience of working in public art museums. I was fresh out of university as a trained teacher. I'd worked in classrooms for about a year when I 'fell' into this job. I discovered that museums were just the most fabulous and versatile classrooms and took to the job with relish. Notable successes include: * Establishing The Young Ones children's club and helped them win first prize in the Gummi Festival street parade * Curated Papunya Tula Dreaming - selected Papunya Tula paintings in 1988 as a bicentennial event
