Biologist from Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo, with a Master of Science from Simon Fraser University (British Columbia) / equivalence Master of Science (UNAM), PhD in Biological Sciences from Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana. PRODEP profile from 2003-to date; Academic Group PRODEP-UAM-I-CA-150; National Award "José Álvarez del Villar" for Doctoral Thesis, awarded by the Mexican Ictiological Society, A.C .; University Merit Medal (2001). With more than 30 years of professional experience, including work at Canadian universities (Simon Fraser University and Halifax University), working in the development and application of molecular genetics and genomics tools in aquatic organisms and wildlife.
