The Chorale performs twice a year at the James Armstrong Theater, located in the heart of the Torrance Cultural Arts Center. In addition, the Chorale performs at various community and civic gatherings throughout the year. Under general supervision, the Chorale Director is responsible for selecting, preparing and conducting repertoire for the Chorale's concerts in the spring and late fall (mid-December) of each year. The Director, additionally, has pedagogical and administrative roles to fulfill. The Director, will be responsible for teaching healthy vocal techniques and methods; coaching and assisting the chorale members to improve as vocalists through the rehearsal process. The administration aspect involves preparation and planning of each class meeting to insure that the Chorale remains on track for the planned concerts. Additionally it relates to the numerous elements that must be coordinated to actually present each concert; from directing the accompanist, working with the existing Torrance Chorale Friends (TCF) board on concert and Front-of-House logistics, procuring all requisite music and licensing for concerts, submitting information for publicity and printing, managing program budget as set by Cultural Services Division, and more.
