I first met Irenee when he was a clinical laboratory technician in Butaro Hospital in 2012. At that time, we needed to build out a full anatomic pathology laboratory. Because Irenee had a keen interest and was a quick study, we selected him to be trained as a histotechnologist and immunohistochemistry technician. Since that time, Irenee and his colleagues have performed exceptionally well in the histology laboratory, producing "Harvard-quality" histology slides for cancer diagnosis. Irenee has sought out other opportunities for life-long learning and continues to be a crucial part of the Butaro team.
