Shortly after joining Air Products, I worked with Jim as co-lead on an Order to Cash transformation project for our European Packaged Gases business. Both of us were new to the company and had been set demanding targets for a process that needed a fundamental rethink and change in performance. The program took almost a full year to implement with several sub projects required to achieve the overall transformation. Jim was key to reaching the successful conclusion required by senior management. His leadership skills were critical when we needed to convince our sponsors that quick fixes were not going to deliver results; also when we had to get different functional groups to collaborate instead of treat each other with suspicion. The program was officially recognized by Air Products' leadership with an annual award, not only for the financial results it sustainably delivered, but also for the way it demonstrated we could move conflicting teams to common goals. I learned a lot from working with Jim and was really impressed by his grasp of strategy and change management. He provides innovative ideas to complex issues, has drive & determination to deliver results and is always willing to mentor those around him.
