PhD in Silicon Photonics design with a focus on devices used for high-capacity optical communications applications. Iosif's PhD project is based on the collaboration between the Silicon Photonics and the Optical Fibre Communications groups for the Silicon Photonics for Future Systems (SPFS) project. He has worked on such topics as on-chip frequency combs for WDM applications, advanced modulation formats on the SOI platform, all-optical wavelength conversion and grating coupler design. Diploma Thesis: Plasmonic modes simulation in graphene-based structures using the Finite Element Method. The thesis investigated an efficient formulation for the eigenmode analysis of graphene-based plasmonic waveguides which avoids very fine discretisation in simulating graphene with the Finite Element Method.
