In this role I managed and oversaw Student Senate meetings to implement initiatives, bring to light and address student issues and overall as well as attended Halton Catholic District School Board meetings to participate in discussions about board wide issues and communicate the concerns and ideas of students. On a provincial level, I attended student trustee conferences to collaborate with other trustees to improve Ontario's education system(eg. Making positive steps towards acquiring student trustees a binding voting and standardizing the student trustee election process) and gain professional development. I collaborated with secondary school principals and vice-principals, superintendents and board trustees to organize and run events like anti-bullying campaigns and wellness forums to bring to light important issues in our board. In this role I worked alongside pharmacy technicians, pharmacists and program technicians to draw up, label and dispense medication for the admitted patients at McMaster Hospital. I gained an understanding of the pharmaceuticals used, as well as what conditions they are used for and their side effects. The role allowed me to see what drug therapy looks like for a patient from the moment a medication is ordered for a patient, all the way to when it is drawn up, labeled and dispensed to the patient for administration.
