The overall responsibility for domestic programs, including disaster preparedness and management, first aid and psycho-social support, community based social work activities, health and care for undocumented migrants, rehabilitation centers for torture victims, support in the asylum process, restoring family links, integration activities, dissemination of humanitarian values and international humanitarian law, volunteer training and support, fundraising and income generation through the SRC 280 second hand shops. Responsibility also included advocacy and lobbying as well as networking and cooperation within the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement as well as with authorities and external partners. The National department included 6 national units and approx 140 staff members. More than 20,000 volunteers actively involved in the domestic programs. I have been a member of the senior management team since 2005 and have on several occasions been acting Secretary General Achievements: Successful restructuring of the Swedish Red Cross domestic organization, carried out a considerable down-sizing, redefined purpose and goals, and built a more focused and effective organization. Initiated start-up of new activities and partnerships to meet growing and new challenges, stepped up our advocacy work and reinforced our work with humanitarian values and principles. Concept development process resulting in a business model for SRC second hand shops, which is now being implemented country-wide. Show less

In cooperation with the Myanmar Red Cross, conducted a study on “The Red Cross auxiliary role to the public authorities in the humanitarian field: “Reaching people in need”. The study presented good practices as well as challenges in delivering impartial, humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations. The study was commissioned by International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Asia Pacific Zone and the International Committee of the Red Cross, Regional Delegation, Kuala Lumpur and supported by the Swedish Red Cross. Responsible for the provision of qualified personnel for international assignments within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement. The unit handled about 100 SRC delegates on field missions per year and a resource base of more than 200 delegates. The duties involved recruitment, training, briefing/debriefing, contractual issues and development work. During this period, we managed a considerable increase of SRC delegates on senior field positions as was a strategic choice. I took an active role in the global development work regarding human resources.
