The Skill Set program consists of two peer-led sessions (winter and summer) for those between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. The retreat includes workshops led by a staff of peer facilitators who believe in the potential of young people to change the world and to be changed in the process. With my fellow co-director, I oversaw the hiring and training of staff, created the structure and focus of the sessions, and led each retreat. Show less

    • Program Staff
      • Jun 2019 - Jul 2019

In summer 2019, I returned as Program Staff to a UU camp that I attended and then worked at in my adolescence. Rowe is a very special place to me personally and had a huge positive impact during my younger years. The camp strives to create a safe space where young people can relate and connect, while learning to interact in caring, thoughtful ways that honor the principles of social justice. Along with the usual fun summer camp traditions, Rowe focuses on community building, self esteem, relationships, and consciousness-raising, offering an alternative culture where issues are challenged and redefined. Program Staff responsibilities include creating and running workshops for campers (ages 12-14), supporting them in the challenges of being a teenager, and creating a safe space for them to explore their own identities and learn how to move responsibly in the world with compassion and confidence.
