During my time as an APM I invariably worked at the grade above, which enabled me to lead my own projects. One of these projects was a software development tool. In addition, I was responsible for day-to-day support to 4 PM’s across a range of projects covering research of specific topic areas to Horizon Scanning and futures work. I frequently deputised for the senior PM and led responses to review board and various technical and programme members. A key role was chairing multiple project meetings with much senior colleagues and leading at Quarterly Project Reviews. ● Found new ways to improve work packages: A project was costing a lot more than budgeted and wasn't delivering the envisioned impact. I redesigned the governance and holding to account process that brought the project work package back into budget and a better deliverable was subsequently produced. ● Helped train new APMs: I was responsible for training new APMs to ensure they understood their role and the processes. ● Tested new forecasting system: I was chosen to test the forecasting system due to my understanding of MSP and agility. Once the system was implemented I supported other team members on how to use the system. ● Led the first APM networking event: I devised, led and delivered the first Dstl AMP Network for the growing AMP community. At these sessions presented overviews and hosted the events and workshops. Attendance more than tripled during my tenure of leadership for these events Show less
