As a tutor at Explore Learning it was my duty to create a safe and fun learning environment for children of all ages and backgrounds. I inspire them to think fearlessly and to not be afraid to ask for help, to give things a go and to always try to stretch themselves. One of my main contributions to the job is my running of the 11+ group. I handle the logistics, the planning and the analytics to chart their progress. I also run their lessons tailoring the experience to best suit their needs. My assorted responsibilities included: •Marking and evaluating work. •Designing and employing pupil management techniques. •Teaching children logical thinking and problem solving skills. •Nurturing the progression of students and explaining the progress to their parents. •Leading children and navigating them through difficult syllabus topics. Under my leadership I have grown the 11+ group from 7 members to over 30, over the course of a month. Show less

For my Masters dissertation I teamed up with a group from CapGemini to enter their "TechChallenge 2020" hackathon, centring around hidden disabilities. Our team, christened "The Visionaries", aimed to develop a machine learning powered screen reader. My job was to help decide on which machine learning implementation to use (Google, Microsoft, Amazon) and then create the artifact. One of the most challenging parts of the project involved being able to take in pictures and screenshots of notes and convert them to plain text for the screen reader to pick, which I achieved using AWS' extensive devops tools and leveraging the textract API. This project helped to secure my Masters distinction* grade. Show less

Over summer I completed an Erasmus internship for a web development & solutions company based in Sliema, Malta. Although I was out of my comfort zone initially, I hit the ground running and quickly adapted to a change in environments and pace at Just Some Coding. My first task involved completing a testimonial website, known as Customonial. I used web technologies such as Laravel in conjunction with MySQL to develop and deliver a fully functioning and polished system revolving around user testimonials for companies. Using advanced PHP scripts and Laravel's eloquent syntax system I created an easy to maintain and simple website, whilst offering all the features specified in my brief. My second task was based around mobile app development and my knowledge of Mathematics and Mechanics. Using Unity3D I assisted in the development of an app allowing builders to simply take a picture of a building and remotely measure angles and sizes, furthermore the app allowed them to identify areas of the building shielded from lightening strikes. This was achieved by using Unity's gravity engine simulate a ball of a auto-generated size to roll over the house, identifying "lightening proof" areas. Working in a formal environment further honed my skills in Git usage and I'm now comfortable in using Git from the command line and including easy to understand documentation with my commits. Furthermore I picked up agile management techniques. I deployed this knowledge as a member of a team to ensure that deadlines were met and progress was swift, whilst retaining high standards of product quality. Show less
