Operations Director and Year-Round Programs Coordinator
-
Apr 2011 - Oct 2012
As the Operations Director, I worked closely with the Co-Directors to ensure the effective on-site management of the 248 acre property. I led the hiring and management of the Maintenance and Kitchen staff. I was the chief liaison with the landlord of the property and oversaw ongoing site maintenance and improvement projects. I handled staff housing and and camper transportation logistics. I led the site preparation and extensive documentation effort to get Eden Village Camp accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), the gold-standard for camp safety. As the Year-Round Programs Coordinator, I was the liaison between two nonprofits helping to run Spring, Summer, and Fall programming for a variety of constituents including homeschoolers, congregations, community centers, and campers from ages 8-17. I led communication with clients, parents, and participants about programming. I worked with the Farm Director, Farm Educational Apprentices, Wilderness Director and others to help create a wide range of curricula. I led program participants and campers on hikes and wilderness immersion activities. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with young educators and help to equip them with group management and curriculum development skills, as well as pass on knowledge of the local geography from my personal exploration of the region. I also coordinated special events onsite including a 400 person fundraising gathering, weddings, and retreats. Show less
